French lawmakers approve taxation part of contested social security budget

Lawmakers in the lower house of the French parliament approved the taxation part of the country’s overall 2026 social security budget on Friday. Debates on the rest of the highly-contested budget are ongoing in parliament, with a final vote taking place next Tuesday.
